Angler's Heaven
22/06/08 l By Ernest Teo

What a surprise that morning, I actually woke up early which is unusual for those who knew me well. I picked up my long time dive buddy, Sofian, and headed to meet the rest of the gang for breakfast. We were lucky the tide was up which was a good news as we would not have to carry all the gears and tanks for too far. Our excitement level raised when the boatman told us they had a good catch on the spot just a couple of days ago.

Half an hour later, in the middle of no way, the boat stopped and we made our way down using the anchor line as the current was very strong. It was so amazing because a school of fusiliers greeted us at the bottom. Slowly, we finned our way towards some bottom composition where a huge starry pufferfish was right in front of us and it did not move away. Instead, I had to manouvre around it. Plenty of spinny lobsters were on guard while rabbitfish and parrotfish enjoyed their breakfast.

On our way to the second location, I thought I saw a huge tail thinking it was a whale shark but was actually a school of dolphins hunting on the surface.

We hit a group of reef balls before proceeding to the reef. To my surprise, this old reef was a bit quite than usual and visibility was not as good. Mucking around would be a good idea. Just minutes later, tank banging can be heard and we found our first macro subject. The colourful, gummy like nudibranchs filled up the rest our dives.

Not a bad day after all as it was very relaxing with the small number of us diving together. Lots of photo sharing during dinner at one of the local restaurant.
