Kayaking

What do scuba divers do when they don’t dive?

… A lot of other activities to keep them breathing!

I have been wanting to do kayaking here for a while but couldn’t find buddies to come along. Fortunately, I met Ed and October a few weeks ago which we decide to do something during the Gawai holidays.

Foliage on both sides of the river were providing a good shed for us on a sunny day. Along the way, we can see the river were actually carved from lime stones and at many points, it was going 90 degree turn which it was so amazing. The trip was very relaxing and it was not tough as painted by many. Guess they were trying to be macho.

We stopped by a mini zoo and visited a wood fossil caves... Wonder if anyone stayed inside there before?

Out in the open was a hornbill that shows no fear of human. As you can see in the picture, it was trying to pick on October’s bracelet. At one point, Sofian was sharing his lunch with the bird.

Unexpected, we passed by a Gawai celebration done by the nearby villagers and was invited to join in for the food and drinks. Where in the world can you find such hospitality?

We end our trip at Wind Cave and Sofian was proud he made it.
