Naming Dive Site

12/08/2007

Sematan

Recently, most of my leisure trips during the weekends were focus on identifying the marine life that inhibit our local reefs. It was fun for both new and experience divers.

Equipped with underwater cameras, we dived slowly over sandy bottoms and corals searching for micros while some were more interested in the fishes that swam around.

I decided to identify one of the site as Lee Garden. Named after the diver who put in so much effort the previous weeks identifying and taking pictures of marine life at that particular site.

Once the information is compiled, I will publish them in my website to share with everyone.

1st Dive

Our first site was at Batu Penyu taking the opportunity of high slack tide. Visibility was good with a mild current.

Lee Garden

Unlike the other sites adjacent to it, this reef starts from corals at the shallow, continued by scattered rocks blending the sandy bottom before ending out to sea.

(L) A nudibranch feeding on corals.

(R) This grouper was looking curiously wondering what type of creature am I.

Bottom

(L) Long looking at an amazing sized sponge while sea cucumber feeds around it.

(R) Blue Spotted Ray trying to hide under a rock but I feel it is too small for the fish.
